‘I sat at home for 40-50 days doing nothing’: Suryakumar on T20I axe

Former India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav revealed that he spent nearly two months at home doing "nothing" after being removed as team captain and subsequently dropped from the squad. Suryakumar expressed his shock at the decision, stating that he was completely unprepared for the sudden change. He credited former captain Rohit Sharma for his leadership lessons, praising his ability to manage the team and defend low scores.

Despite his batting form slipping in 2025, Suryakumar was initially expected to lead India for another two years, with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and another T20 World Cup on the horizon. He acknowledged that the selectors approached him two or three days before the squad announcement, informing him that a change was necessary, and expressed no intention of reacting negatively to the decision.
