Grand Canyon flash flood: More than 20 feared missing

More than 20 individuals may be missing following a flash flood in Grand Canyon National Park, according to the National Park Service. The floods struck the Bright Angel Canyon and Phantom Ranch area on Saturday, prompting the service to collaborate with Arizona authorities to ensure evacuations and locate people in the impacted region.

The park service sought public assistance in gathering information about the missing individuals and hikers who were present in the area at the time. The flash flood commenced around 2:30 pm on Saturday, with 62 people already being evacuated as of Sunday morning. No injuries have been reported thus far. The service cautioned that additional thunderstorms and heavy rainfall could occur through Monday, potentially leading to further flash flooding, debris flows, rockfall, and alterations in trail and river conditions.
