From Complainant To Accused: Indore Hotel Employee Jailed Over Fabricated Robbery Story

In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a hotel employee named Deepak Rathore was jailed for falsely reporting a robbery after a minor road incident. Initially, Rathore claimed that two youths on a motorcycle had attacked him with a knife near Choithram Mandi, stealing Rs 45,000. Upon receiving the complaint, police launched an investigation.

However, scene-of-crime checks and local inquiries found no evidence of a robbery. Instead, officers discovered that the incident arose from a minor collision between two motorcycles. Later, during questioning at the police station, Rathore admitted to fabricating the robbery story. He claimed that following the collision, an argument ensued during which the youths allegedly struck him with a key on his neck before fleeing.

Frustrated by the altercation, Rathore decided to make a more serious accusation. Police identified the two motorcycle riders as minors. As a result, police initiated proceedings under preventive sections against both parties, and Rathore was arrested and jailed for filing a false police complaint.
