Former Serie A MVP Rafael Leão completes $44 million transfer from AC Milan to Galatasaray

Former Serie A MVP Rafael Leão has completed a $44 million transfer from AC Milan to Galatasaray on Sunday. Galatasaray announced the signing of the Portugal winger and revealed that he will be under contract for four years with a base salary of 10 million euros per season, amounting to $11.6 million. Additionally, 20% of any future sale of the player will be paid to AC Milan.

The 27-year-old Leão was named the Italian league MVP in the 2021-22 season after helping Milan win Serie A. However, he has faced challenges with injuries and inconsistent form in recent times. Last month, at the World Cup, Leão's curling cross set up a crucial header for Gonçalo Ramos in a stoppage-time goal during a 2-1 win over Croatia, propelling Portugal to the round of 16.
