Families stake out Dataran Putrajaya early for National Day parade

In Kuala Lumpur today, families have begun arriving at Dataran Putrajaya as early as 3pm in anticipation of tomorrow's 2026 National Day parade. One Threads user, Shahidah, shared her family's early arrival, stating they arrived to find a suitable spot and set up their chairs. The hot afternoon weather did not deter her family as they walked around to discover the best viewpoint.

Shahidah's family would watch the parade, observing the firefighters, police, and soldiers marching in front of them. Another Threads user, @riezdon93, posted a video of a family setting up chairs near a metal barricade at Dataran Putrajaya. The family later confirmed in the comments that they were the first to arrive, with three other families following suit.

Threads user @jamu.lisa offered advice on the optimal viewing locations, recommending areas to the left or right of the VVIP stage near the Palace of Justice. She noted these spots provided shade, shielding spectators from direct sunlight. Additionally, these areas allowed viewers to watch the parade contingents pass after they had moved past the VVIP stage.

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil indicated that the 2026 National Day celebrations are anticipated to draw over 80,000 visitors, thanks to the school holidays, improved transport facilities, and water taxis providing easy access to the event.
