Dubai launches Dh1.1bn plan to slash Meydan travel times by 66 per cent

Dubai has unveiled a ¥1.1 billion ($300.5 million) plan to dramatically reduce travel times on key transportation routes, with an expected 66% decrease from 30 minutes to just 10 minutes. The Al Meydan Street Development Project, part of Dubai's long-term urban strategy, aims to increase vehicle capacity by 18% on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.

This strategic initiative serves over 500,000 residents and workers in residential and development areas, strengthening connectivity and improving traffic flow across the northern and southern parts of the emirate. The project entails the construction of 3,700 meters of bridges and 17 kilometers of roads, as well as the installation of cycling tracks to enhance overall transportation infrastructure.

Mattar Al Tayer, the director general and chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority, emphasized the project's proactive approach to planning and execution, aiming to align with the city's growth and ensure efficient mobility.
