Chivu: ‘Inter squad has quality, Jones and Thuram can lend a hand’

Cristian Chivu, the head coach of FC Inter Milan, is confident in his squad's abilities as they prepare for a challenging match against Cagliari. In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, Chivu highlighted the squad's quality, stating that Marcus Thuram and Curtis Jones could provide crucial assistance during the game. The match is set to take place at the Unipol Domus in Milan at 19:45 UK time (20:45 CEST).

The Nerazzurri, who won the Scudetto and Coppa Italia last season, began the current campaign with a dominant 4-1 victory over Monza. Inter's new signings, John Stones and Jones, are currently on the bench, but Chivu believes they will be valuable assets if given the opportunity. Meanwhile, Cagliari opened their Serie A season with a surprise 1-0 win against Parma.

The coach acknowledged the difficulty of playing against Cagliari, affirming that they are a well-organized and formidable team. Chivu confirmed that Benjamin Pavard, Petar Sucic, and Luis Henrique will replace Yann Bisseck, Piotr Zielinski, and Andy Diouf in the lineup. Jones and Thuram are both still not fit, with the latter still recovering from issues at the World Cup.

Nonetheless, Chivu assured that both players would get valuable playing time during the match. With the transfer deadline approaching on September 1, Chivu remains optimistic about potential additions to the squad.
