Raiders trade offensive lineman to jets

In a deadline-driven move, the Las Vegas Raiders have acquired backup center/guard Jordan Meredith from the New York Jets. In exchange, the Raiders are sending a 2029 seventh-round pick to the Jets, receiving a 2027 sixth-round pick in return.

Meredith, 28, is in his final year of his contract and is earning $3.5 million. He will reunite with quarterback Geno Smith, as they previously played together in Las Vegas the previous season.

Meredith is likely to serve as a backup for the Jets, joining a roster where Trey Zuhn, a rookie third-round pick, is expected to become the primary backup to center Tyler Linderbaum. Over his four-year tenure with the Raiders, Meredith played in 45 games, starting 20 of them. Last season, he started 11 games.
