As income inequality in the United States grows, many Americans are unable to afford basic necessities. According to a recent survey conducted by the KFF healthcare polling firm, 36 percent of respondents admitted they had skipped or delayed a doctor's visit due to financial concerns in 2025, compared to 25 percent in 2023.

This trend is accompanied by a significant increase in the number of uninsured Americans. However, the situation is far more favorable for those in the top income brackets. A wave of innovative new health startups has emerged, catering exclusively to the wealthy. These companies provide on-demand full-body MRI scans and analysis by medical experts, offering a "comprehensive" scan starting at $2,500 or an "executive" treatment up to $4,000.

Prenuvo and Neko Health are two prominent examples of such companies, attracting a cumulative $1.2 billion in funding. Despite the potential benefits of these advanced diagnostic tools, one expert argues that the excessive emphasis on such treatments may lead to unnecessary testing and increased health risks. The issue is not about the effectiveness of these health monitoring trends, but rather the stark disparity in access to these services.
