Ayariga assures President Mahama of commitment to government’s ‘Reset’ agenda

The newly sworn-in Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, has pledged his commitment to the government's 'Reset' agenda. This assurance was given to President John Dramani Mahama at the swearing-in ceremony of the two ministers, held on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The ceremony marked the official start of their tenure, following Parliament's unanimous approval of their nominations on Thursday, August 27, after vetting by the Appointments Committee.

Upon taking their constitutional oaths from President Mahama, Ayariga expressed that he and his colleague, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, had taken heed of the President's expectations and understood the responsibilities that come with their appointments. He assured the President that they would adhere to his directives and strive to meet the commitments made to the Ghanaian people during the 2024 election campaign.

Ayariga emphasized that their work would be guided by the government's promise to 'reset' the country, as outlined during the 2024 election campaign. He further mentioned that President Mahama's leadership style, especially his approach to connecting with ordinary Ghanaians, would serve as a guiding principle for how the two ministers conduct themselves in their roles. Ayariga pledged his continued adherence to the President's instructions and the Vice President's guidance in discharging their duties.

The newly appointed ministers expressed their readiness to work within the administration's expectations and contribute to fulfilling the mandate given to them by the Ghanaian people.
