Ashton Daniels has TD pass, TD run in Florida State’s 34-17 win over New Mexico State

Florida State's Ashton Daniels threw for 202 yards and scored both a touchdown pass and touchdown run in the Seminoles' 34-17 victory over New Mexico State in a season opener on Saturday. Daniels' 17-of-27 completion percentage included a 4-yard TD to Samuel Singleton Jr. and an interception. New Mexico State's Ousmane Kromah powered a 52-yard fourth-quarter run, his first 100-yard game with 114 yards on 13 carries.

Florida State's 217 rushing yards on 39 carries included four touchdowns, while New Mexico State completed 10 of 16 third-down attempts. New Mexico State quarterback Trey Hedden, a transfer from FCS Furman, threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns to TK King and Brodie Malone-Bradford. New Mexico State's pass defense struggled against Florida State's offensive attack.

The Seminoles, who welcomed 62 new players, face challenges in their offensive line, passing attack, and pass defense as they prepare for their ACC opener against No. 19 SMU on Labor Day.
