APGA clears all 21 chairmanship, 362 councillorship positions in Anambra council polls

The ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party has secured victory in the recent Anambra state council election, winning all 21 local government chairmanship positions and all 362 ward councillorship positions. According to Mrs Genevieve Osakwe, the Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), the party's candidates were officially declared winners in all the 362 electoral wards and 21 local government areas across the state.

Osakwe affirmed that the elections were held in a peaceful, free, fair, transparent, and credible manner, complying with state electoral laws and guidelines. She stated that despite rumors of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) withdrawing from the election due to violence and malpractice in Anambra East LGA, the commission was unaware of these allegations.

The YPP candidate in the area garnered 1,658 votes, while the APGA candidate achieved a substantial 50,169 votes, resulting in the party's victory. Osakwe expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for their confidence in the commission throughout the voting process and acknowledged the support of security agencies and the media.

The new Chairman of Ayamelum Local Government Area, Hon Emmanuel Igwebuike, on behalf of other elected mayors, praised the state governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the ANSIEC, security agencies, and the media for creating a conducive environment for the election.
