• "Automatically select and buy for me"... Can I trust AI shopping and payment? Recently, the distribution industry has seen an increase in AI shopping services that use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to understand customers' tastes and preferences and then recommend products. The Shinsegae Group launched an 'AI shopping' service earlier this month that uses AI to analyze customers' past purchase history and recent search history to recommend optimal products. This service allows customers to entrust their purchase history to AI, which then automatically selects products and handles payment. Customers don't need to go to an online shopping mall and select products themselves; they can simply entrust AI with their shopping. Lotte Shopping also launched a service last month that uses AI to analyze customers' tastes and lifestyles and recommend products. The company is also expanding its 'AI-based personalized marketing' service, which provides customized shopping information by analyzing customers' movement paths and purchase history. AI shopping services are based on customers' purchase data, making it possible to recommend products with high accuracy. Additionally, AI can proactively recommend products that customers frequently purchase or are interested in, reducing shopping time and costs. However, some people worry that the accuracy of AI shopping services may be low. Even if AI analyzes customers' data, it's difficult for AI to fully understand customers' tastes and preferences. In particular, detailed personal information from customers is required to improve AI shopping services, but there are concerns that the recent revision of the Personal Information Protection Act will make it even more difficult to improve AI shopping services. Experts say, "To activate AI shopping services, it's essential to gain customers' trust. To achieve this, we need to think about how to collect and utilize customers' data." hani.co.kr
