Windber native Braxton Roxby makes MLB debut with Giants

Windber native Braxton Roxby made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the San Francisco Giants on Friday night during a 10-6 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The relief pitcher entered the game in the ninth inning, with his family watching from the stands at Oracle Park. During his brief appearance, Roxby retired three straight batters and struck out one, though it was nearly undone by the automatic ball/strike system.

Roxby expressed his gratitude to his family for their support, stating that their presence at the game meant a great deal to him. He recently transitioned to the third base side of the mound and was unsure if his strikeout had been recorded, jokingly asking his catcher for confirmation. Roxby spent the majority of his career in the minor league system, with one season as a pitcher for the Richmond Flying Squirrels, where he pitched against his hometown minor league team, the Altoona Curve, with his family in attendance.
