Ski standout Marco Odermatt won’t attend preseason training in Chile due to minor injury

Marco Odermatt, a top-ranked skier in the World Cup, will not participate in the preseason training camp in Chile due to a minor muscle injury. This setback threatens his quest for a sixth consecutive overall title. The Swiss ski team confirmed that Odermatt experienced pain during a training session and received a diagnosis of a minor muscle injury, which prompted his absence.

They emphasized that his focus must now be on recovery and rehabilitation, with a reassessment of his season plan when he can return to on-snow training. Odermatt has secured five overall World Cup titles, matching the record of Marc Girardelli, and also claims three medals from the Milan Cortina Olympics, alongside his giant slalom gold in Beijing. The season is set to commence in Sölden, Austria, in October.
