Why remand Kulai pair but not Perak MCA staff? Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng asks police after flag gaffe

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has voiced his concerns over the perceived double standards in police handling of Jalur Gemilang cases. He specifically highlighted the contrast between the four-day remand and questioning, without detention, of individuals involved in incidents in Kulai and Perak respectively. Lim requested the Inspector-General of Police to provide a clear explanation for the differing treatment, threatening to call for the IGP's removal if he does not offer a satisfactory explanation.

The mistake in Perak MCA, where the flag and Perak flag were displayed upside down, led to the staff member's resignation after an investigation by the police. This case, according to Lim, differed significantly from the Kulai police's actions where two members of the public were detained, remanded for four days, and subjected to urine tests despite the mistake being unintentional and corrected promptly.

Lim also pointed out another incident involving the Kuala Terengganu City Council, where a Jalur Gemilang was displayed without the crescent and star, and no arrests were made due to it being termed a "technical error". Lim firmly believes that no one should be arrested in case of unintentional errors, immediate correction, and sincere apology, criticizing the perceived favoritism and unjust treatment by the police.
