We will deliver on government’s commitments to Ghanaians — Ayariga assures Mahama

Ghana's newly appointed Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, has promised to collaborate closely with his counterpart, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, to fulfill the government's commitments to the people. Ayariga made this pledge during their official swearing-in ceremony at Jubilee House on Saturday, August 29, 2026, which marked the beginning of their tenures following Parliament's unanimous approval of their nominations. The pair underwent vetting by the Appointments Committee on Thursday, August 27.

Addressing reporters after taking their constitutional oaths, Ayariga expressed understanding of President John Dramani Mahama's expectations and the responsibilities bestowed upon them. He assured the President that they had listened meticulously to his indications about what is expected of them as state ministers and their approach to executing their roles.

Ayariga pledged their unwavering commitment to following the President's directives and contributing to delivering the promises made to Ghanaians during the 2024 election campaign. He stated, "We will work to realize the commitments that you made to Ghanaians in your promise to reset the country when you campaigned in 2024."

Ayariga emphasized that President Mahama's leadership and engagement with ordinary citizens would serve as a guiding principle in their conduct while in office. He further assured the President and Vice-President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang that they would continue to seek direction from them as they fulfill their duties.
