Traffic crawls along 20km stretch entering Kelantan as school break and National Day surge builds

GUA MUSANG, Aug 29 — Traffic entering Kelantan has been moving slowly along a 20km stretch near the Merapoh and Kampung Mentara border entry point, Pahang, due to an influx of vehicles from the school holidays and National Day celebrations, according to Gua Musang district police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo. Police have been patrolling the area to ensure road safety and smooth traffic flow.

Congestion was noticed at the Central Spine Road construction site, causing traffic to slow between Merapoh and the highway's end in Kampung Mentara, but it has since returned to normal. Despite the high number of vehicles, traffic in Gua Musang town remains smooth, with no unusual congestion reported. Meanwhile, traffic on PLUS Malaysia Berhad's highways is expected to reach 2.2 million vehicles during peak days between Aug 28 and 31, and Sept 4 and 7, as part of the National Day and school holiday festivities.
