On Saturday, Tom Cruise confirmed that Days of Thunder 2, a sequel to the 1990 NASCAR film, will be released on June 2, 2026. Anne Hathaway will play alongside Cruise in the upcoming racing film. At Daytona International Speedway, Cruise addressed the entire field of drivers about the upcoming movie. "I'm so excited to be back here," Cruise remarked.
"Last time I was at this track, I was on the back straight, shooting with two heavy cameras traveling at 180mph. The hood came off the car, and we were filming a bonfire on the back straight, with the sun setting and the radio not working. You guys haven't fixed that yet!" Cruise expressed his pride in reflecting the community and people of NASCAR in the first film and his honor to share it with the world again.
He emphasized that the new film would aim to provide the audience with an understanding of NASCAR as a team, community, speed, excitement, and danger. Cruise thanked the drivers for welcoming him and praised their efforts, looking forward to doing their best at the Daytona race.
