Springbok player ratings from 33-26 win against All Blacks in Cape Town

In the second Test of the Bok-All Blacks series in Cape Town, the Springboks secured a narrow 33-26 victory, leveling the series at 1-1. The All Blacks won the first Test in Johannesburg 33-16, and the teams will face each other again in Johannesburg next week and in Baltimore, USA. The Citizen rated the Springbok players out of 10.

Damian Willemse, who left the game early due to injury, received a 7 for his solid positional play and crucial tackles. Cheslin Kolbe delivered an excellent performance, kicking seven out of seven and making several important tackles, earning an 8. Jesse Kriel scored a try and put in numerous good tackles, but missed a few, including one that led to an All Blacks try, earning a 6.

Damian de Allende scored a try and made many carries and tackles, but also missed a tackle resulting in an All Blacks try, earning a 7. Ethan Hooker made several good chases and tackles, but had few attack chances, earning a 7. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu was solid, kicking well and making tackles, earning an 7. Cobus Reinach's service was decent, and he made some runs, earning a 6.

Jasper Wiese had a quieter outing, but made big carries and tackles, earning a 6. Pieter-Steph du Toit had a steady performance, making numerous carries and tackles, earning an 7. Siya Kolisi, back in the team, led the line well and scored a crucial try, earning an 8. Ruan Nortjé pulled off numerous tackles and led the lineouts, earning a 7.

Eben Etzebeth was superb throughout, earning an 8. Thomas du Toit played for 56 minutes and contributed with carries and tackles, earning an 8. Deon Fourie started early and did well, earning a 6. Gerhard Steenekamp started early and did his job, earning a 6. The bench players, especially Malcolm Marx and Ox Nché, performed well in their late debuts, earning 8s and 7s respectively.
