Road collapse cuts off Taraba communities

A section of the Zagah–Suntai road in Taraba State, Nigeria, has collapsed, severing access for several rural communities in Bali Local Government Area. This impassable stretch, previously compromised due to deterioration, has now completely collapsed, disrupting the flow of people, goods, and vital services such as healthcare, education, and markets.

For three weeks, community leaders had pleaded with the state government to intervene, a request that has now gained urgency following the recent collapse. Residents are renewing their calls for immediate government action to restore road access and avert further hardship in these affected areas.

The incident highlights the ongoing struggles faced by many rural parts of Taraba State, where residents rely on a limited network of roads for essential activities like transportation, trade, and access to public services.
