Raksha Bandhan 2026: Tears And Smiles As Sisters Tie Rakhis To Inmate Brothers In MP’s Ashoknagar Jail

Ashoknagar Jail in Madhya Pradesh witnessed a heartwarming incident on Friday as sisters of inmates brought tears and smiles by tying rakhis to their brothers and putting tilak on their foreheads. The jail authorities facilitated this unique bonding opportunity for 215 prisoners, including nine women, with a special meeting time from 9:30am to 12:30pm and 2pm, during which each prisoner was granted 10 minutes to tie rakhis and share sweets.

Notably, three women with children under six years were allowed entry into the prison to participate in the event. To ensure a safe and smooth experience, women were required to bring their original photo identity cards and copies. The authorities also provided pooja plates filled with various items to enhance the spiritual aspect of the occasion.

The jail officials took extra precautions, instructing women to carry only two pieces of seasonal fruit and 250 grammes of sweet when entering the prison premises after undergoing a thorough search by female jail officials. The act of tying rakhis and expressing affection towards their incarcerated brothers showcased the deep emotional connections that transcend the confines of the jail.

Away from the prison walls, at the Yoga School in Sehore, learners celebrated Raksha Bandhan in a unique manner. They performed a ritual of worshipping trees, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation. The members of the school tied rakhis to trees, sending a powerful message about the need to protect Mother Nature.

Yogacharya Dinesh Sharma, a prominent figure in the institution, highlighted that yoga, an integral part of Indian culture, teaches people to establish a connection with nature. He stressed that any destruction of nature would ultimately lead to the downfall of human endeavors.
