Pushkar ghat works begin in Bhadrachalam ahead of 2027 Godavari Pushkarams

Construction of the Pushkar ghats alongside the Godavari River commenced on Saturday in Bhadrachalam, a town housing a revered historic temple. The state government has earmarked ₹46.65 crore for the first phase of the ₹49 crore project, which comprises three phases slated to conclude by March 2026. The works are divided into three zones: Bhadrachalam, Parnashala in Dummugudem mandal, and Mothepattinagar in Burgampadu mandal, all within Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

At the inaugural bhoomi puja, Bhadrachalam MLA Tellam Venkat Rao and Bhadradri Kothagudem Collector Ankit expressed optimism, urging officials to ensure the timely and quality completion of the project. Rao emphasized the significance of the 2027 Godavari Pushkarams, a 12-yearly event, and urged the Roads and Buildings Department to construct a service road along the karakatta, adjacent to the Godavari, to ease pilgrim movement.

The government has also allocated ₹351 crore for the redevelopment of the Sree Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam.
