After altercation before Rahul Gandhi’s event, Congress, BJP youth wings make peace

After a fight a day prior to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's visit to Pune last week, the Congress and BJP student wings have chosen to reconcile and show mutual respect for each other's ideologies. The two groups met informally at Hotel Vaishali in Pune to discuss their differences and agree on a protocol for future interactions. Akshay Jain, a Pune Youth Congress leader, stated that the main goal of the meeting was to initiate positive dialogue and address disputes and aggression that had been present among youth organizations.

Jain emphasized that while their political ideologies differed, ideological differences should not lead to personal animosity. Dushyant Mohol, a representative of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, echoed Jain's sentiments, adding that both sides agreed to follow a protocol in future interactions and not agitate outside each other's offices or disrespect party flags.

The NSUI and ABVP members had clashed on August 21 over a video of a girl engineering student, resulting in physical altercations and FIRs filed against each other. Both groups have now agreed to withdraw their complaints and work towards ensuring that future protests remain peaceful.
