Probe must be comprehensive after family alleges pupil with heart condition was made to run, says sports minister

Alor Setar, Aug 29 — Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari has called for a comprehensive investigation following allegations that an 11-year-old girl, Nur Qaira Alisha Ahmad 'Ilwan, who had a heart condition, was made to run by a teacher. Dr Taufiq expressed condolences to the girl's family, stating that the Youth and Sports Ministry shared their grief.

He emphasized that the investigation must be thorough, transparent, and without bias, with all parties involved given the opportunity to provide statements and explanations. Dr Taufiq urged the deceased's family to receive a proper, fact-based explanation of the incident and assured that if any negligence, breach of regulations, or misconduct is found, appropriate action will be taken. The Minister stressed that the safety and welfare of students should never be compromised.
