The Aljunied-Hougang Town Council has been putting these blocks forward for HIP for several years. The improvements will benefit around 1,697 households, he added. When he first began representing Eunos in 2011, none of the blocks in the ward had undergone the HIP program.
He noted that the ward consists of "well in excess of one hundred blocks and many thousands of households." Currently, only two blocks in Eunos are awaiting HIP – Blk 613A and 613B Bedok Reservoir Road – and the MP stated that the AHTC team will continue to submit the remaining blocks for the program.
The Home Improvement Programme, launched by HDB in 2007, is a heavily subsidized initiative designed to assist residents of ageing flats in addressing common maintenance issues, such as pipe leaks and spalling concrete.
