Prime Minister’s National Day 2026 address set for 2pm at PICC

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 29 — The 2026 National Day Prime Minister's Address Ceremony at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) will commence at 2 pm, according to the Ministry of National Unity (KPN). The decision to shift the event from Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur to PICC was made in light of current developments, with the aim of ensuring the safety, health and comfort of attendees, as well as facilitating a smooth ceremony.

KPN stated that the Prime Minister's Address Ceremony serves as an important platform for the Madani government leadership to reflect on the aspirations and hopes of the Malaysian people, fueling the spirit of independence, strengthening patriotism, and nurturing a sense of love and responsibility towards the nation. The Ministry of Communications' National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 Celebration Working Committee had previously announced the move due to the current haze conditions.

Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip, the director-general of MetMalaysia, had reported hazy weather conditions in Sabah, with high haze concentrations possible in certain states until August 31.
