PIMS Fire Investigation Report Submitted to PM Shehbaz Sharif

The inquiry committee, led by former interior secretary Shahid Khan, delivered the initial investigation report on the fatal fire at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's office. Tauqir Shah, the prime minister's adviser, forwarded the report to the prime minister and briefed him on the findings and recommendations.

The report's release is currently under the control of the prime minister. All committee members have signed the document, which outlines the fire's cause and identifies those believed responsible. The report addresses the challenges rescue teams encountered during the emergency, recommends disciplinary action against PIMS staff absent during the incident, and proposes measures to prevent future occurrences.

The committee included statements from PIMS administration officials, doctors, fire brigade personnel, and rescue workers in their report. The committee has urged swift action against those found culpable, with the report awaiting the prime minister's decision regarding its public release.
