PAC president warns Joburg’s residents not to vote for Zille

Mzwanele Nyhontso, leader of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC), has cautioned Johannesburg residents against voting for the Democratic Alliance's (DA) Helen Zille for mayor. Nyhontso made this warning during the PAC's manifesto launch in Soweto, just before the local government elections slated for November. He insisted that Zille's presidency would not bring any change to the local populace.

Nyhontso cited the DA's administration of Cape Town as a stark example, alleging that black lives in the townships have not improved and remain plagued by poverty, living in shacks, and high crime rates. He highlighted the need for caution while considering Zille's candidacy, stating that she will bring change to the white population but not to the black community.

Nyhontso further lamented the state of many South African municipalities, describing them as "utterly hopeless" due to incompetence and corruption. He blamed these issues on chronic shortages of water, unreliable electricity, and lack of street lighting. The PAC's manifesto also touched on the issue of land use, urging repossessed land to be utilized for the benefit of South Africans in need.

According to Nyhontso, land should be used to foster community development by providing opportunities for investment, entrepreneurship, and employment near the residents. The PAC has nominated Thami ka Plaatjie as its mayoral candidate for Johannesburg, while the MK party has chosen Bongani Baloyi for the same position.
