Oyo 2027: APC chieftain raises alarm over destruction of billboards, seeks security intervention

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Rasaq Sijuola, has expressed deep concern over the destruction of campaign billboards belonging to their party ahead of the 2027 general elections. Sijuola, who participated in the recent primary election in Akinyele State Constituency 2, alleged that political miscreants were responsible for the destruction and replacement of the billboards with those of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The incident occurred along the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) road in Akinyele Local Government Area. Sijuola, who is also the Mogaji of Looyin compound in Ibadan, described the situation as unacceptable and strongly emphasized that political differences should not serve as a justification for such acts. He appealed to security agencies to take swift action and bring an end to the destruction, stating that he was consulting with his legal team to explore appropriate legal steps.

Sijuola urged party leaders, stakeholders, security agencies, and relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that those responsible are held accountable by the law. He also sought to promote tolerance, restraint, and issue-based politics among supporters of all political parties as the 2027 elections draw closer.
