Moyes responds to ‘don’t sell Armstrong’ chants from Everton supporters after offer from Nottingham Forest

David Moyes has responded to chants from Everton supporters urging against selling Harrison Armstrong, following an offer from Nottingham Forest. Moyes confirmed that the offer has been made but does not know if it will be accepted, stating that it is a club decision. The 19-year-old impressed during his recent performance in Everton's 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, despite speculation about his future.

Moyes praised Armstrong's work rate, saying, "I thought Harrison played really well today. He did a lot of good work, ran out of legs a little bit later in the game, but it’s amazing the effort he puts in."

Moyes reiterated that Everton needs to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes, regardless of Armstrong's future at Goodison Park. "Without losing anybody, which we obviously don’t want to do, we still need to add players to what we’ve got," he said. Moyes acknowledged that the team is not as strong as it could be, squad-wise, citing recent injuries to players like Hayden and Jimmy as examples.

When asked about signing a new right-back, Moyes was unable to provide an update. He did, however, address the dissatisfaction expressed by some Everton fans in the stands, including chants of "don’t sell Armstrong." Moyes urged supporters to consider him as an Evertonian and emphasized that while their opinions matter, they are not always right.

"They’re not always wrong," he said. "But then there’s also times where unfortunately I’ve had people at clubs who are really powerful and make difficult decisions. Decisions that are not always popular but sometimes they have to do it for different reasons. I’m sure the club will make what they think is the right one."
