Modrzewski tosses 6 TDs, South Dakota dismantles Central Connecticut

Austyn Modrzewski, South Dakota's starting quarterback, delivered a stellar performance in his first appearance as the team's primary playcaller. He completed 16 passes on 20 attempts, for a total of 304 yards and six touchdowns, which matched a school record. Modrzewski also contributed with two carries, amassing 81 yards and a touchdown. One of those runs featured a notable 68-yard QB keeper during the third drive of the game.

By halftime, South Dakota had established a commanding 42-10 lead over Central Connecticut State, after trailing 7-0 at the start of the first half. The Coyotes employed a methodical approach, starting three plays from scrimmage without gaining any yards. Central Connecticut managed to score once, but Modrzewski showcased his deep-ball capability consistently, connecting on six passes that were 20-plus yards in length.

Keyondray Jones-Logan and Brayden White were standout performers for the Coyotes, with Jones-Logan recording two receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown, while White added five catches for 82 yards and two more touchdowns. Tennel Bryant and Chris Herrin also made significant contributions, with Bryant scoring a 49-yard touchdown catch and Herrin having two receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown. Charles Pierre Jr. anchored the ground game for the Yotes, rushing for 77 yards on 10 carries.
