Minister wants thorough probe into girl's death after school sporting activity

Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari has called for a comprehensive investigation into the death of an 11-year-old girl following a school sporting activity. According to Taufiq, the incident occurred on April 14 at SK Bukit Pak Kiau. The Ministry of Youth and Sports has extended condolences to Nur Qaira Alisha Ahmad Ilwan's family.

Taufiq emphasized that the investigation must be thorough, transparent, and without bias, addressing all aspects of the incident. He stressed that no detail should be overlooked, and all parties involved should be given the chance to provide their statements and explanations. In case of any negligence, breach of regulations, or misconduct, Taufiq vowed that appropriate action will be taken in line with the applicable laws and regulations.

The minister highlighted the importance of prioritizing the safety and well-being of students, stating that such matters cannot be taken lightly or compromised. Taufiq also acknowledged that a social media post by the victim's father alleging that his daughter, who suffered from a heart condition, was pressured into participating in a running activity despite a medical letter being submitted went viral.
