Aminu Wushishi: Information Minister, Idris reacts to death of NPC chairman

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr Aminu Yusuf Wushishi, the chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC). In a statement released on Friday, Idris conveyed his profound sadness at the news of Dr Wushishi's demise, emphasizing that his death marks a significant loss for the NPC, the public service, and the entire nation.

Describing Dr Wushishi as a close associate and a committed public servant, Idris highlighted his dedication to national development, particularly during his short tenure at the Commission. The Minister noted that Dr Wushishi had initiated a mission to conduct a credible, technology-driven Population and Housing Census, a key aspect of his agenda upon assuming office.

Idris praised the late chairman's commitment to delivering this census, which demonstrated his sense of responsibility and determination to make a lasting impact on Nigeria's development. He conveyed his condolences to the Government and people of Niger State, as well as the residents of Wushishi, where the late chairman held the prestigious traditional title of Talban Wushishi.

The Minister also extended his sympathies to Dr Wushishi's family, colleagues, friends, and colleagues at the NPC, praying for the strength to cope with the loss. In closing, Idris called upon Allah to forgive the deceased's shortcomings, grant him a place in Aljannatul Firdaus, and provide solace to all who mourn his passing.
