MFA: 56 Ukrainians still missing in Nepal disaster zone

The MFA reports that 56 Ukrainian citizens remain missing in Nepal's disaster zone as of 12:00 Kyiv time. No information exists regarding Ukrainian citizens among those injured or killed. The MFA Consular Service Department stays in continuous contact with relatives, while Ukrainian embassies in India and China, along with the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Nepal, maintain constant contact with local authorities, search-and-rescue services, tour operators, and foreign partners.

Search-and-rescue operations occur daily from early morning, albeit hampered by fog limiting aircraft use to the first half of the day. Rescue efforts were temporarily halted on Friday due to a high risk of a landslide-dammed lake breach in Tibet, but resumed after a controlled water outflow. Chinese professionals reached the hardest-hit area, Zhirong checkpoint, while over 2,000 personnel and 300 pieces of equipment have been deployed.

Road access to the epicenter remains blocked due to extensive damage. The MFA continues to monitor the situation, keeping the case concerning the disappearance of these 56 Ukrainian citizens under special control.
