Lumpur tebal, mangsa terperangkap terowong sukarkan misi SAR di Nepal

A devastating flash flood hit the Devighat village in Nepal's Nuwakot district on Friday, causing severe challenges for the country's search and rescue (SAR) operation, according to German news agency dpa. The Nepalese army faced difficulties such as thick mud and trapped victims in mountain tunnels while trying to reach the affected areas including Temure, Syabrubesi, and Mailung.

Royal Army spokesperson Raja Ram Basnet stated that 14 rescue helicopters were operating in the region, and rescue efforts were being intensified. As of Friday evening, over 4,400 people were saved. The army used helicopters to evacuate the stranded and take them to a military training camp in Battar Bazar. The army took the lead in the SAR operation during the disaster in Nepal.

Basnet reported that only four victims managed to be rescued from the mountain tunnel by Friday morning, while many more are believed to be still trapped. Video footage showed rescue members pulling two living laborers from a mud tunnel into a helicopter. The extent of the ongoing rescue operation remained unclear, according to Basnet.

Nepal authorities reported on Friday that 1,924 people are missing in the popular mountain tourist area, including 517 foreigners. In Tibet, 558 people are reported missing.
