Linturi claims govt-linked youth plot to disrupt Linda Mwananchi rally in Meru

Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has expressed concerns over potential disruptions to Linda Mwananchi meetings in Meru County, alleging that government-linked individuals have organized youth to interfere with the opposition movement's activities. Linturi shared his concerns on social media, stating that he had seen clips circulating showing youth threatening to disrupt the Linda Mwananchi meetings scheduled for Meru.

The opposition-aligned youth allegedly invoked Linturi's name while wearing materials associated with his former political party during their threats. Linturi dismissed the claims, describing Linda Mwananchi as part of the broader opposition campaign against President William Ruto. He further alleged that government actors had organized the youth across Meru County and instructed them to claim they were fighting for him, in an attempt to create divisions within the opposition.

Linturi claimed to have received information suggesting that Bonoko, a government figure, was responsible for instructing the youth to disrupt the meetings. He urged Bonoko and his team to abandon the alleged plans, emphasizing that Linda Mwananchi should be allowed to conduct their political activities peacefully in Meru and all over Kenya. The opposition movement is set to tour Meru County on Sunday as part of its grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 General Election.
