Lampard 'somewhere in the middle' of Mourinho and Ancelotti
Eight years into his own managerial career, Coventry City boss Frank Lampard cites Jose Mourinho and Carli Ancelotti as the main influences on his style.
In the second episode of the new Football Interview season, musician Tom Grennan spoke with Coventry City manager Frank Lampard. As a player, Lampard worked under prominent managers, including Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti, who significantly influenced his management style. Lampard described Mourinho as someone who is very on you, transmitting his self-confidence, while Ancelotti was chilled and calm, making you feel trusted.
Lampard claims his management approach is somewhere in the middle of these two styles. He acknowledges the importance of balancing between the two to avoid being too critical or too relaxed, depending on the situation. Lampard's recent success with Coventry, where he guided them to win the Championship, he considers to be on par with his previous achievements with Chelsea and other clubs.
Despite the challenges of managing a top-flight side, Lampard encourages his team to be brave and aims to instill a winning mentality in his players.
