Karnataka man acquitted in 2015 murder case hacked to death in public

Dadapeer Udayakar, a man acquitted of a 2015 murder in Karnataka, was publicly hacked to death in Hubballi on Friday afternoon, according to police. The incident occurred around 1 pm near Siddeshwara Park in Banashankari Layout, Vidyanagar. Two unidentified men intercepted Udayakar on his two-wheeler and attacked him with sharp weapons before fleeing the scene.

Udayakar was previously accused in the 2015 murder of a person named Maruti, but was acquitted in 2017. However, police are still investigating whether the new killing is connected to the earlier case or unrelated enmity. Senior police officials, including Hubballi City Police Commissioner N Shashikumar, visited the crime scene and are leading the inquiry, forming teams to track down the attackers.

CCTV footage from the area is being examined to establish the suspects' movements. Police Commissioner Shashikumar promised to register a case once the accused are identified. The investigation is ongoing.
