Former Indian batsman Mohammed Kaif criticized India’s performance during the drawn Test match in Colombo, stating that the team missed Shubman Gill’s energy. India found themselves ineffective on the final day as Sri Lanka declared their second innings on day five, while being asked to follow on. Kaif believed that if Virat Kohli, India’s former captain, had been playing, the outcome would have been different due to his constant motivation and intensity on the field. Despite the draw, India secured a 1-0 series victory in the ICC World Test Championship standings, with Gill maintaining his second series win as Test captain.
