‘How could I forget?’ Anwar calls Permatang Pauh his hometown and birthplace of political journey

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has declared Permatang Pauh as his hometown and the birthplace of his political journey, despite now representing Tambun. The constituency continues to hold a deep sentimental value for Anwar, he said. "Where did it all begin? Permatang Pauh... how could I forget? This is our hometown," he was quoted as saying.

Anwar made these remarks at the Permatang Pauh Skim Usahawan Bangkit (SUB) programme held at Dewan Yayasan Aman Penanti in Bukit Mertajam. Before contesting in Port Dickson and Tambun, Anwar had served as the MP for Permatang Pauh. His attachment to the constituency led him to request the SUB programme organizers to hold it there.

"Permatang Pauh is my place, my hometown, and this is the proof - today, SUB is being held in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency," Anwar stated.
