Harry Potter land takes shape at Warner Bros World

Abu Dhabi's Warner Bros. World is constructing a Harry Potter-themed land on Yas Island, as announced by Miral and Warner Bros. Discovery in 2022. The development, set to be the Middle East's first Harry Potter-themed land, is part of a major expansion of the indoor theme park. Warner Bros. World lists the attraction as "under development" on its official website, providing categories for three rides and attractions, dining, and shopping.

The permit material indicates that Hogwarts Castle and Diagon Alley are expected to be major components of the new land, setting it apart from other Harry Potter attractions that typically present the locations in separate areas or parks. Other planned elements include Hogsmeade and a Forbidden Forest environment, though these have not been formally confirmed.

Detailed announcements are scarce, with the official project description focusing on allowing visitors to experience iconic Wizarding World locations in a new way. The land will add around 40,000 square meters to the park, increasing its footprint by approximately 26%. Early works have already begun, with construction activity visible around the existing complex.

The project, first announced in November 2022, is expected to open in 2029, though no official date has been announced. Warner Bros. World is also expanding beyond Harry Potter, with attractions like Kryptonite Collider and Superman Up and Away scheduled for completion in 2028. The project is part of a broader wave of large entertainment investments on Yas Island, including a planned Disney theme park resort and Sphere Abu Dhabi.
