Harry Kane wants to stay as Bayern contract talks begin after five-goal opener

MUNICH, Aug 29 — Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has begun discussions to extend his contract beyond 2027, following the club's 5-1 home victory over Stuttgart in the season opener, according to reports. Speaking to reporters after the match, Kane revealed that negotiations commenced last week. The 33-year-old forward, considered a frontrunner for the Ballon d’Or, which will be presented in his hometown of London later this month, expressed his desire to continue his stay at Bayern, where he joined in 2023 from his former club Tottenham.

Kane, who scored a remarkable 36 goals in just 31 Bundesliga games last season, the third most in a German top-flight campaign, and who also won the league and cup double, stated that both sides are committed to reaching a mutually beneficial agreement. "I’m 33. It’s probably going to be, not my last contract. But it’s a big contract for me to sign," he said, adding that there's no panic from either side at the moment.

Bayern Munich has consistently expressed their willingness to extend Kane's deal, which is set to expire at the end of the current season. Last term, Kane not only scored 73 goals for club and country, including six goals during the World Cup where England secured a semi-final spot, but also played a pivotal role in helping Bayern Munich clinch both the league and cup titles.
