‘Fortunately, my bodyguard retaliated’: Casino director says shooters had recceed his movements

The director of Majestic Pride, a company managing casinos in Goa, remained unharmed after being targeted by two armed assailants outside a hotel in Porvorim on Friday night. According to Srinivas Nayak, the two assailants had apparently conducted reconnaissance on his movements. As the director exited the office to get into his car, the attackers suddenly opened fire, firing three to four shots.

Fortunately, his bodyguard responded by firing three rounds, forcing the attackers to flee. Nayak quickly entered the hotel and managed to avoid injury. He stated that he had not received any prior threats and had no known rivals. The director has filed a statement with the police, who are currently investigating the incident. The FIR lodged at Porvorim police station charges the two unknown accused with attempted murder and endangering the lives of others, along with sections of the Arms Act and the Bombay Narcotics Act.

Police recovered purported CCTV footage from the scene, which showed the shooters waiting near the hotel entrance and firing at the director. Goa's Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that this marks the first incident of its kind during his tenure, and that the police are conducting a thorough investigation. Those responsible will be apprehended as soon as possible, Sawant added.
