Former Braves Pitcher Punches, Pins Knife-Wielding Man To Protect Players, Per Report

Atlanta Braves pitcher Kevin Lomon made headlines recently for his heroic actions during a violent threat against his players. Lomon, now a high school baseball coach, was traveling with 13 players to a game in Shawnee, Oklahoma, when a man entered the hotel hallway brandishing a knife. The man approached Lomon and attempted to stab him before fleeing back into his room.

Lomon instructed his players to seek safety in their rooms and called 911. He then confronted the man in the hallway, punching him multiple times before holding him until police arrived. No one was physically injured during the incident, and police recovered two knives. Lomon emphasized that he didn't consider himself a hero, merely doing his duty to protect his players.

This incident was a stark reminder of the high-pressure situations Lomon has faced, stemming from his brief MLB career with the Atlanta Braves back in 1996.
