Far-right British provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported after his immigration arrest in US

British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been deported back to the United Kingdom following his arrest by American immigration authorities, U.S. officials announced on Saturday. The Department of Homeland Security revealed that Yiannopoulos was repatriated to his home country on Friday after being found guilty of overstaying his visa upon entering the U.S. legally in May 2019.

A removal order was issued by an immigration judge on July 22 after he missed an immigration hearing, according to a Homeland Security spokesperson. Yiannopoulos was apprehended on Thursday at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Louisiana and held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. A DHS spokesperson stated, "He chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation's laws."

Yiannopoulos and his representatives have not commented on the matter, and he has not utilized his X social media account since Thursday. Known for championing conservative causes, Yiannopoulos has often taken controversial stances criticizing feminism, Islam, and immigrants, even advocating for a 20-year immigration ban under former President Donald Trump.

He has also worked for rapper Kanye West, who performed in New Orleans on Friday evening. The British national gained prominence in the early 2010s as an incendiary writer for Breitbart News before resigning in 2017 amid a controversy involving a video of him endorsing pedophilia. He later apologized, claiming he himself had experienced sexual assault as a minor.
