Electric car crashes into 9 motorcycles, killing one in Bang Phli

SAMUT PRAKAN — At approximately 08:10 on 29 August 2026, an electric sedan collided with a group of nine motorcycles outside a convenience store in Bang Phli district, resulting in one fatality and seven injuries. The Prakan Rescue Command Centre received an emergency call via the 1669 hotline and dispatched rescue workers and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation to the scene at Soi Mahachai in Bang Phli Yai subdistrict, Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan province.

Seven individuals, consisting of both men and women, were found injured, with the majority being motorcycle riders and nearby bystanders.

Among the victims, a 57-year-old man named Cherdsak Sutthinun was pronounced dead at the scene. The police identified the vehicle as an electric passenger car with Bangkok registration plates, which sustained significant damage and was surrounded by the wreckage of several other damaged motorcycles. The motorcycle belonging to the deceased was severely damaged and was nearly inoperable.

Cherdsak's wife recounted that he had just left their home, located near the scene, to purchase coffee before getting onto the motorcycle. She had initially been riding with him. Just before the collision, she had disembarked from the motorcycle near the crash site. The fatal impact occurred when the electric sedan entered a three-way intersection and violently struck his motorcycle.

Both the deceased man and his wife were injured by the impact, though fortunately, she had dismounted the motorcycle just prior to the crash. The driver of the electric sedan was also injured by the collision.

Rescue workers provided immediate first aid to the injured and transported them to nearby hospitals. Police from Bang Kaeo Police Station investigated the scene, gathering evidence, and reviewing CCTV footage. Investigators plan to question the driver, witnesses, and those who observed the crash to ascertain the exact cause of the incident and initiate appropriate legal proceedings.
