Vibe strong for by-election win, says One Nation

One Nation secured a narrow victory over Labor in an outer-suburban by-election held in Western Australia, according to preference flows. Pauline Hanson's party led with 22 percent of votes counted at the Secret Harbour by-election, with Luke Herdegen holding a 1.45 percent lead over Labor's Georgia Tree. Voters in the traditionally safe Labor seat cast their ballots on Saturday following the mid-term retirement of senior minister Paul Papalia, which triggered the contest.

Herdegen expressed confidence following a strong campaign, buoyed by the sea of orange polling booth colors throughout the electorate. While WA Premier Roger Cook conceded it would be a tough battle to hold the outer-suburban electorate, he expressed that it would break his heart if Labor lost. Local residents in Secret Harbour cited cost-of-living pressures, housing issues, and a perceived lack of community amenities as concerns during the election.

Both Herdegen and his supporters praised his campaign, while retired truck driver Dean Maxwell voted Labor, stating he didn't see any good policies from One Nation or its leader Pauline Hanson.
