Eagles fans return to South Philadelphia tailgates for final preseason game

Football season made its return to South Philadelphia as Eagles supporters gathered at the parking lots with grills, green jerseys, and fervent "E-A-G-L-E-S" chants in anticipation of the team's final preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Amy Iuliucci of Atco, New Jersey, shared her enthusiasm, stating, "I'm so hype to be here. You can feel it. It's gonna be a great year, I can feel it." For many fans, the game served as a final opportunity to reintroduce themselves to the tailgating tradition, readying themselves for the regular season. Danny McGinn of Coatesville remarked, "It's also the first chance for us to tailgate, ya know, get the cobwebs off, ready for regular season.

A notable highlight of the game was the debut of wide receiver and first-round draft pick Makai Lemon, who had been sidelined by a hamstring injury for the team's first two preseason games. Max Raneiri of Reading expressed his desire to see Lemon score a touchdown, while Vanessa Logan of Richmond, Virginia, confidently proclaimed, "We already know they're gonna dominate the whole season.

The preseason finale held additional importance for players competing for roster spots, as the Eagles needed to trim their roster from 90 players to 53 by 6 p.m. on Sunday. The team's regular-season opener and home opener is set for Sunday, Sept. 13, against the Washington Commanders at 4:25 p.m.
