Dobbs makes his case to be Goff’s backup by taking Lions on 3 TD drives in 25-16 win over Colts

Josh Dobbs showcased his skills as Detroit's potential backup quarterback on Saturday, leading the Lions to a 25-16 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The veteran, who signed during training camp, threw two touchdown passes and orchestrated another TD drive. Rookie Luke Altmyer played the first and third quarters, completing 7 of 11 passes for 55 yards and leading the Lions on an 75-yard TD drive.

Dobbs took over in the second and fourth quarters, executing a flawless 2-minute drill and connecting with teammates for key gains. Anthony Richardson led the Colts with 80 yards passing and two field goals, while Riley Leonard struggled with turnovers. Detroit secured the win with Traveyon Williams' 1-yard TD run and Dobbs' 2-yard TD pass to Tay Martin.

The Lions look forward to hosting the New Orleans Saints in their season opener on September 13, while the Colts aim to maintain their second straight season-opening win by hosting Baltimore.
